Smart Buttons Sub-Tab
The Smart Buttons sub-tab on the Smart Elements tab allows you to configure the smart buttons that are available to users in the Report Preview window.
Smart buttons are used for two main purposes:
-
To display a Save button to save data that has been updated in editable fields
-
To process actions on transactions such as work orders or purchase orders
The Smart Buttons field lists numerous options that can be selected. Only one option can be selected, so options for multiple buttons are displayed with a slash separating the options. For example, the Issue / Deny option results in both Issue and Deny buttons on the report.
Add or update a smart button on a report:
-
Click the Smart buttons sub-tab.
-
Select the desired buttons from the Smart Buttons field.
-
If editable fields have been defined for this report using the Report Field Options window, a Save button must be selected. However, if there will be other smart buttons defined on the report, it is not necessary to select the Save button. Select a different button, and Maintenance Connection will automatically detect the need for the Save button and add it to the report.
-
Selecting a single value results in a single button displayed on the report.
-
Selecting multiple values (such as Issue / Deny) results in multiple buttons on the report.
-
Some options are similar, but one is labeled as (No Dialog). These options correspond to transactions that are associated with the Complete/Close window.
If you want to have the user view and update the Complete/Close window after clicking the button on the report, be sure to select the option that does not have the (No Dialog) label.
-
Selecting None ensures that no smart buttons are displayed on the report.
-
-
Select the field where the update should be made from the Smart Button Field Value field.
If an edit smart button has been defined, only primary file data should be updated. As such, a value such as [WO]Work Order or [Asset] Asset should be specified.
-
Click the Apply button.
Your changes are saved. The Report Preview window opens. If you accessed the Report Setup window from the Report List, you are returned to the Report List.
